DVD/CD: Asus
http://www.microcenter.com/product/406773/DRW-24B1ST_Internal_DVD%C2%B1R-RW_Burner_-_OEM

Graphics Card: I will use my current card thats in my current rig - MSI 970GTX

Im waiting on the heat-sink to finalize the build, it gets in Tuesday. Hopefully I will be done with the build next Saturday the 15th before BF1 and Titanfall 2 come out. Im not necessarily building a rig for those new games. Just needing an upgrade. My current rig runs at 2600mhz.

Thanks Shark - I did have to change to a slower memory 2133 no biggy I didn't want to mess around with the xmp profile stuff.

I sure do like the new Click Bios 5 - what an improvement over the blue and white bios of old.

I did get it built and fired it up and I must say it sure is quiet!! The fans are better than whats in my antec case.
I just messed around with the bios (no OS install yet) until Wednesday.

My temp was running around 38-40c with the side of the case off. I didnt run it that long about 15-20min. It does seem a little high at idle just in the bios, but what I understand is that the cpu can get a little warm while running the bios, so Im not too concerned at the moment. Also I was using the integrated graphics so that might of not helped too. I will drop in the gtx970 tommorow.

Hopefully I will be up and running by the weekend - it takes so damn long backing up and transferring your favorites over to the new build - that is what I hate the most.

This response is a little late - didn't see it. I will get my new heatsink installed and I will show pics. Before and after Heatsink.

The heatsink was undersized - following Noctuas recommendation I decided to change it.
(While it provides first rate performance in its class, it is not suitable for overclocking and should be used with care on CPUs with more than 84W TDP (Thermal Design Power)
If your ambient temperature is significantly higher (30°C or more), we don’t recommend running the NH-L9x65 on 95W Skylake, 84/88W Haswell, 77W Ivy Bridge or 95W Sandy Bridge CPUs. For all other setups, please ensure good case ventilation when ambient temperature is 30°C or more.

I know the 60-65c is functional and ok to run at - I wanted to see if I could do better...

The i7 Skylake TDP is 91W -

The Old heatsink Temps: 32c idle - game load at 60-65c - average 60c (this is still decent for the size, I was surprised with
only 4 pipes on it)

The New heatsink Temps: 23-28c idle - game load at 48-55c - average 50c
10 pipes on it

This shows the rig before my new heatsink

Old heatsink still (it was undersized - it did its job though considering the size of it)

CPU getting a clean (used Arctic Clean 1 & 2)

New heatsink installed (without fan)(used Arctic Silver 5)

Top View (ram clearance is good for fan in this position)

Puting back together again.

I noticed you got the newer i7... you will like it!!!

I get around 92-101 fps (High Settings) in BF1 on my GTX970

yeah the I7 kicks ass, I've gained about 30 fps on the bottom end in some of the Unigen test with same gtx980 between my old I5 and new I7.  Guess the I5 was a bottleneck for my 980.  ???
