« on: March 11, 2017, 09:02:27 AM »
So my current system I have has been running for about 6 years now and am starting to notice its age in some of the newer games.  The main thing im upgrading in my new build is the cpu, currently its an i5 2500k, motherboard, new ram and finally going with a water cool setup.  Also decided to try out a new case.   For now im sticking with my GTX 980 as I just got it new maybe a year ago.  I just ordered the new stuff last night and will be here sometime next week.  Let me know what you guys think.

Got most of the stuff in the mail throughout this week and getting my last few things (fans, thermal grease, ect.) this Friday, then I'll be converting my old computer and upgrading it to the new one!  Heres some pics of the stuff I got so far this week.  Saturday will be the day I get down and dirty with the internals and it should all be up and running Saturday evening. My goal is to get it overclocked to 5ghz...hopefully.

I've never done a full blown liquid cooled system so I decided to my fingers a little wet and start out with a beginner "all in one" system which only cost me $129 on newegg.  In the future with other builds, I may go all out on a complete water cooled system once I get myself familiar with water cooling in general.  Just an example of a complete water cool system:

Finally had the time to focus on getting the new system put together.  Everything is running at stock speeds and currently stable.  I plan to overclock and my goal is to reach 5 ghz which I plan to do this weekend.  I decided before doing any overclocking, I'd get my PWM fan speeds custom set up depending on system temps.  The higher the temps, the higher the fan's rpm.  Anyways here are a few pics I took of my system, don't mind the quality, I'll try to get some better pics when its brighter in the room.

So I did a stress test with aida64 extreme and ran it just over an hour.  ( I know its not that long but will run it for 12 or more either tonight or tomorrow night) Here are the numbers.  So far I am happy with my temps at 5ghz running stable.

Thanks Menace,  I plan to wait a year and upgrade my 27in. 1080p monitor to a 32in or bigger 4k 144hz hdr monitor and a beefy video card.  That should be something lol.
