This game is in early alpha, but looks like it might be a nice one.

For people that like Cities: Skylines, Sims, Sim City, or any other God game.

Currently the alpha only has stone age, but they are expanding it pretty fast.

Here is some gameplay to get an idea...

PC Game News / Quantun Break
« on: March 31, 2016, 12:01:29 PM »
Comes out on April 5th. Anyone giving it a try? I remember being really excited about it when I first saw it 4 or 5 years ago, but not sure what to expect now.

It also states that the minimum requirements include Windows 10. so I may not even be able to play since I haven't upgraded yet...

General Discussion / How Verizon is fucking you on data!
« on: June 18, 2015, 05:51:05 PM »
So I was out of town for 3 months in South Carolina for work and used a mix of my verizon hotspot and free wifi available from the RV park where we were staying. The first month was pretty high at $352.79, but I made some mistakes. I had auto updates on for everything, so I used quite a bit of data (~30GB). The next 2 months I had all auto updates turned off for software and games and i didn't do any streaming on my computer. I used my tablet or laptop for streaming since I had the free wifi.
My next 2 bills are insane... $872.74 for the 2nd month, $737.08 for the 3rd month. Months 2 and 3 were ~70GB of data... LOCAL DATA!!!!

I am very confused here. I have disabled updating of everything on my computer, and I am not streaming any media.  So I figure I should do a live chat and see what is going on. Here is that chat...

Please hold for a Support Representative to assist you.
Thank you for contacting Verizon Wireless.
Your Chat Session ID is ---------------
My name is Michele, how may I assist you?

Tyler: I need to set up a payment plan for my bill that is due
Tyler: I can break it up into 3 or 4 payments at best
Michele: Hey Tyler!! I will be more than happy to look into that for you today!
Tyler: thank you
Tyler: my account number is: --------
Michele: Thank you!!!!
Michele: While I am looking into this how is your overall service with us?
Tyler: service was good, but have no idea how I used that much data when my computer was off most of the
time

Michele: Hmm did you stream any videos or anything?
Tyler: no, and disabled all updates for my software and game updates
Tyler: I do use my computer as a local server for media, but its all local data and shouldn't count against the
data plan

Michele: After looking into this to set up payment arrangements you will have to reach our financial services. You can
reach Financial Services at 8662661445.

Michele: By local data you mean wifi?
Tyler: data from my computer to others on the same network
Tyler: using local IP's
Michele: As long as you are using your network as a server it will pull data from the plan that you have with us unless
you have another Internet provider.

Tyler: so if I use the hotspot as a hub/router then all local network traffic is counted as data from my data
plan?

Tyler: local meaning computer to computer. no internet traffic
Michele: Yep!
Tyler: ok, but that isn't actually using any data
Tyler: I pay for broadband, not for a network switch
Michele: Do you have an idea of what other thing you or anyone else uses that would pull data? social media and
music streaming?

Tyler: all other computers are blocked from external data. so no internet access. my computer just handed out
local data

Michele: What do you mean by handed out data? If you don't mind me asking.
Tyler: so I have Internet <--> Hotspot <--> My PC --> Everyone Else
Tyler: but my PC does not share internet connection
Tyler: I was only using the hotspot to hand out IP addresses to those that connect. but my computer was the
only one allowed connection ot the internet

Michele: Gotcha!!! but your jetpack is used as a hotspot correct?
Tyler: yes, but set to block all external traffic except for my PC in the admin settings
Tyler: so moving files from computer 1 to computer 2 would charge me or not charge me?
Michele: It would charge you, as far as the set up to block external traffic we don't support that on out network
Tyler: ok, wow.
Michele: Yeah I double checked to confirm that, as long as the jetpack is used as a hotspot to other device its going to
pull data.

Tyler: that's insane. ok, thanks for your help. I'll call that number and work out something.
Michele: No problem I will note that in your account!
Tyler: thanks
Michele: You are very welcome!

So I have to ask. Does this seem right at all?  It would be like me writing a note, walking it to my wife and handing it to her, then verizon charging me for that action.

a completely wrong statement from the representative:
above Michele says "...as far as the set up to block external traffic we don't support that on [our] network". If you look at the user manual on page 33 that you can do just that.

I'm not done with them yet. I will be calling Verizon a little later today (recording the conversation) to see what other information I can get from them that involve charging their customers for local network traffic.

General Discussion / Website down...
« on: April 08, 2015, 12:04:14 PM »
As you know, the website was down for a couple weeks. This is due to the fact that someone finally decided to hack my account. They took down my entire account with GoDaddy, but I finally got it all resolved. Luckily they didn't get any information (well, except my fucking home address). I have set it up where this should not happen again.

All is back to normal  ;D

« on: December 13, 2014, 06:48:17 PM »
Anyone checking this out?  I've been playing around with it for a few days now and it's pretty good.  It's an open-world/sandbox/survival/crafting game. so mix of DayZ, minecraft, and a generic FPS.  It currently early access, but is a lot better than most developer's beta versions/

so.... who is playing CoD: Advanced Warfare?

I have played a few matches and seems pretty good. With some teamwork it would be pretty easy to dominate in MP.

General Technology Discussion / Mouse and Keyboard adapter for Consoles
« on: September 11, 2014, 05:35:41 PM »
I think this one will finally get it right. It will probably cost a bit more ($125) than the garbage adapters that are out there , but looks like it will finally allow mouse and keyboard to act properly.

I'll be getting this soon and will post a review if you guys are interested.

The remake isn't like the first FEAR at all, but its not too bad.  If they continue tweaking it , it might come out alright...
